Sweaters

I'm starting a new sweater today, and in honor of this momentous occasion I thought I would look back at the other two adult sweaters I've completed to date....

My first was for myself-- it's a short-sleeved version of the Buttony Sweater by Katie Marcus.

The second took way longer to complete-- it's from the Twist pattern by Chic Knits.

I made it for my mom for Christmas. I wasn't a huge fan of the yarn as I was working with it (Lamb's Pride superwash), but I thought that the cables looked lovely in it.

Now I'm on to the next!  I've got the yarn (thank you, KnitPicks) and the pattern,
Metro by Connie Chang...

So, we'll see how it goes!

Playdough!

It was raining last week, so we made some playdough via Homemade by Jill's playdough recipe
Dan loves it!  And I think it's better than the store-bought version for clean up.  I always make colors that mix well together since mixing is inevitable and I hate when it turns into a gross brown mess.  The regular liquid food coloring works fine-- although I'd recommend using plastic/rubber gloves or else your hands will be stained for a week!

Mother's Day Shell Frames

It's always hard to figure out what to give for Mother's Day.  This year I decided to give my mom and mom-in-law framed photos of themselves and our new little baby.  For the frames, I just took basic wood frames (I found mine at WalMart for 2$ or 3$ each)... I painted one a light blue-green first using acrylic paint, and then used hot glue to attach shells collected from local Maine beaches.  A quick and pretty solution to the Mother's Day dilemma!

My Favorite Things

Here's a rather sparse list of website and blogs that, in my humble opinion, are the best of the best:

Crafty goodness:
My hero, Homemade by Jill
Classic Martha
MADE by dana
Noodlehead
P.S. i quilt

Knitting favs:
Pickles
French Press Knits
The Purl Bee

Of course, if you knit AT ALL there's absolutely no excuse for you not to be on Ravelry.

Really,  luvinthemommyhood is a great place to start if you're looking for inspiration!  She makes great "round ups" and has amazing pictures....

On your marks, get set...

Well,
So I've decided to start a blog to combat the dark times of uncertainty otherwise known as postpartum. After having a baby, some women take up their jogging strollers, other women eat lots of chocolate, and some go back to work after 6 weeks.  I, on the other hand, suffer from a terrible inability to make any sort of decision.  Seriously, deciding what flavor of ice cream to order can make my palms sweat.

When I'm not feeling the "baby blues", I have several hobbies outside of my full time job of playing with my two lovely boys.  I teach English at the local university and love creating all sorts of "projects".  My husband lovingly refers to my craft obsession as "snitting".  I hope to use this blog to post and keep track of my various "snitting" projects and inspirations.
